Me loves FF as we...Nicely done and comprehensive..

Me loves FF as well, ofcourse !

(Tho I would agree with Arun's comment above on unbiased comparision.. It would read fairer..)

But I understand ur frustration about being _FORCED_ to work on IE for internal stuff.. Sux like a black hole !

Cheers man..Jesalnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8668739.post-21228469332009897182009-12-28T10:52:14.849-08:002009-12-28T10:52:14.849-08:00You haven't mentioned which versions you were ...You haven't mentioned which versions you were comparing.

Couple of things more can be added to the list:
1. Firefox is infinitely extensible using its XUL framework. The browser interface itself is written using XUL.
2. Firefox 3.5+ has a private browsing mode where it turns of caching or history collection of any sort. Even Chrome has this.
3. Firefox has introduced tagging of bookmarks in addition to their existing folders.
4. All firefox settings are stored as a Sqlite3 database and thus a user can troll through those settings using any Sqlite3 browser. (Or better still use the SQLite Manager addon).
5. Firefox has brilliant addons to do Javascript/DOM debugging (Firebug) but IE does not. This is a serious impediment for developers.
6.
7. Another set of comparisons i would like to look at if you can do it:
a. What is the memory consumption when opening the same type of websites?
b. What is the CPU load?
8. You should also compare in terms of security issues. Data is easy to find. Let me see if i can compile this data and i will send it to you.
9. How do IE and Firefox compare when displaying suspicious websites? Websites with Bad SSL certificates? I kind of know the answer here but havent dug deep.
10. How do they differ in terms of Internationalization support? Is it at par or either one is better?

Also, a comment on the content itself to make it more comprehensive: Though it is the popular opinion that FF is better than IE, a comparison must not start with that assumption. Because then you only find things that support your bias. I am sure there will be some areas that IE will excel in but you can only find that using an unbiased approach.

For example there is this post that talks how IE8 may be better http://blogs.computerworld.com/internet_explorer_8_is_better_than_firefox_3

Maybe you should refer to such posts too so that you give readers a balanced view instead of reinforcing everyones bias.

But a great article overall. You know that i am a born sceptic :).Arun Viswanathan aka n30bli7zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03355069018136283755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8668739.post-67494925999872670392009-12-27T21:23:48.462-08:002009-12-27T21:23:48.462-08:00Hi Atul,
